Nutrition & Wellbeing
Nourishing Communities. Building Healthier Futures.
At ANK Foundation, we believe nutrition and wellbeing are fundamental to building healthy, resilient and empowered communities, particularly in Aspirational Districts and Blocks, government schools, Anganwadi Centres, and underserved communities across India.
Our programmes focus on vulnerable groups including adolescent girls, children, pregnant and lactating women, and their families, combining nutrition education, counselling, community engagement, behaviour change and access to appropriate support.
Our approach draws from the principles reflected in WHO, UNICEF and NITI Aayog best practices, including life-cycle nutrition, dietary diversity, behaviour change, community mobilisation, frontline-worker capacity building, convergence, collaboration, contextualised solutions and measurable outcomes. NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts/Blocks framework places strong emphasis on Health & Nutrition, data-driven monitoring, convergence and collaboration to accelerate outcomes in underserved areas.
Taking Nutrition Knowledge to Those Who Need It Most
Our strong team of nutritionists and health professionals conducts regular nutrition talks, awareness sessions, counselling and community interactions for children, adolescents, mothers, families and frontline workers.
We focus particularly on adolescent girls who may be undernourished or anaemic, pregnant and lactating mothers, young children and vulnerable families, providing practical knowledge that can be translated into everyday choices.
We promote locally available, affordable, seasonal and nutritious foods, including vegetables, pulses, whole grains and other nutrient-rich foods, making healthy diets more accessible and sustainable for communities.
From Awareness to Behaviour Change
We believe nutrition education is meaningful only when knowledge becomes practice. Our interventions therefore use behaviour nudges, practical demonstrations, counselling and community engagement to encourage sustainable changes in dietary and health practices.
This is closely aligned with the emphasis on behaviour change and community mobilisation within India’s POSHAN framework. NITI Aayog’s assessment of POSHAN Abhiyaan highlights behaviour change, capacity building, technology, convergence and community mobilisation as important pillars for improving nutrition outcomes.
